Musicians in Lockdown: Mark Le Gallez

How do you think the lockdown affected your musical creativity? Do you think the complete slow-down helped or hindered creativity?
I thought the lockdown would be awful for me as I need some sort of stimulation for writing, however I seem to have ended up with ten new tracks. I think probably I had a lot of thinking time on my hands plus i am not a very good guitar player so managed to get to the passable level. I also think a local wine delivery company’s profits also benefitted from me due to the lockdown.

Did you do any live streams during lockdown and if so, what was the experience like?
No, I did not want to live stream it is just not for me. I am a live performer I even record live so just not my thing but I saw other people doing some good stuff though.

How do you think the lockdown will affect the Guernsey music and entertainment scene?
I don’t really know to be honest. I would hope people realise live performance is important and a great experience be it music or theatre or any performing art. It’s a good communal thing and good for people’s wellbeing in my opinion. I just hope people support performers and venues I suppose.

What are you most looking forward to for the 31 July?
That’s an easy one, playing my new bass with my crazy amp rig and being with the fellas and audience that too of course.
