Described by Stuart Maconie on The Freak Zone as containing ‘more than a hint of Vaughan Williams’, multi-instrumentalist Marina Moore delivers her debut album of violin and electronics for Patchworks. Grounded equally in classical and 21st century laptop music, this quintessentially English-sounding album creates a feeling of bucolic uplift not unlike Virginia Astley’s From Gardens Where We Feel Secure or Nick Drake’s Bryter Layter.
Moore trained as a violinist and violist at the Royal College of Music in London and New England Conservatory in Boston before playing with the likes of Bryan Ferry and Peter Gabriel. In 2022 she recorded solo strings for Brian Eno’s FOREVERANDNOMORE and solo viola for his 2022 installation in Trentino. In 2024 she composed a piece for the Royal Ballet and Opera, Covent Garden for the dancer Joseph Toonga, which was performed on the Main stage as part of the Triple Bill ‘Encounters: Four Contemporary Ballets.
