Jihad Darwish is a musician, composer & producer from Hackney.
Touring, performing and recording worldwide he has worked with artists including Sting, Van Morrison, Imelda May, Eric Bibb, Arthur Verocai, Eliot Sumner, Kristina Train,Corrine Bailey Rae, Laura Mvula, Anderson Paak,Newton Faulkner, Mica Paris, Gilles Peterson, Zara McFarlane, Moses Boyd, Nu Civilization Orchestra, Sarah Tandy, Camilla George, and many more in venues ranging from Ronnie Scotts, North Sea Jazz Festival and The Royal Albert Hall to The Sydney Opera House, live on Jools Holland and the Jay Leno Show.
His debut album ‘Reclamation’ released under ‘Darwish’ in 2018 was well received with a 4 star review and album of the week in the Evening Standard as well as a 4 star review from Jazz wise. He was selected as featured artist by Jamie Cullum for his BBC Radio 2 show and headlined a BBC Introducing showcase hosted by Jo Whiley and curated by Cullum live on Radio 2 at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival.
Having studied the Sitar and Indian Classical music for a number of years his 2nd album released in June 2023 ‘4 Parakeets,’ is devised upon traditional Indian ragas incorporating jazz modal harmony and western song structure.
Receiving 4 star reviews from both Jazzwise and UK Vibe as well as featuring on BBC Radio and Jazz FM.
