Shakespeare's Globe in Guernsey

Experience Shakespeare Live in Guernsey this October!

See the amazing Shakespeare’s Globe Touring Company at St James in October, in their only appearance outside London this year.

The touring company will again transform St James into a version of Shakespeare’s famous theatre, with their
purpose built touring Globe stage. Bringing three plays with them on tour, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Tempest and As You Like It, the fourth night, will once again be decided by you, the audience. So cheer, clap and shout to vote for the play you want to see and watch the actors spring into action.

26 OCTOBER: THE TEMPEST

Shakespeare’s tumultuous play of betrayal, love and forgiveness is set on a remote and mysterious desert island. A banished father must relinquish control and release his daughter in order for them both to grow, love and understand this brave new world.
With enchantments and treachery at every turn, will anyone ever escape?

Doors/Bar 7pm | Performance starts at 7.45pm

27 October: AS YOU LIKE IT

A play performed brilliantly with its glorious gamut of romance, poetry, satire and slapstick.  When Rosalind is banished to the forest with her cousin Celia, they face a world of exile. Little do they know it is there that they will find love, in the most curious of disguises.
Travel with us to the Forest of Arden to see a tale of sibling rivalry, exile, cross-dressing, and misplaced love, performed by eight extraordinary actors playing multiple roles – and even more instruments!

Doors/Bar: 7pm | Performance: 7.45pm

28 october: a midsummer night’s dream

– a play full of comedic chaos, love and magic.
Four love-sick teens run away to an enchanted forest, where the fairy King and Queen are at war. In the forest, the players -including Bottom- are rehearsing for a play, against all the odds. Meanwhile, wild spirit Puck works with the fairy King to wreak havoc, and chaos ensues!
Infused with mischief and mayhem, A Midsummer Night’s Dream is the story of feuding lovers and magic, a forest and a donkey.

Doors/Bar: 7pm | Performance: 7.45pm

29 OCTOBER: AUDIENCE CHOICE

What’s it like to go to the theatre and not know what you’re going to see? Take part in Shakespeare’s Globe’s democratic theatrical experiment to find out! It will be up to you to vote for which of these three plays you want to see. The rules are simple: the loudest cheer wins, and the action starts straight away. Actors call it ‘terrifying’, audiences say it’s ‘exhilarating.’ So scream and shout as loud as you can for the play you want to see. This is an experience that you do not want to miss.
