It is a great treat to be able to hear Tom Hicks once again in St James, and he will be playing Sonata in E flat by John Field and Beethoven Sonata no 109 in E major. Guernsey Music Centre is very happy to be back at St James which provides a fantastic acoustic for string quartets to perform in. Insieme, EQ and Vivace! will be playing works by Dvorak, Vivaldi and Haydn respectively before joining together to play the Purcell Chacony as arranged by Benjamin Britten.
You will hear a selection of our quartets that aim to offer our pupils opportunities to develop their chamber music skills, which involve listening closely to their peers and knowing when to bring their individual part to the fore, or when to play in an accompanying role. Our quartets are delighted to be sharing the concert with Tom Hicks, who began his musical career with the Guernsey Music Service.
