Conductor: Alan Gough

Due to the Covid restrictions regarding travel and the inability to bring soloists and extra orchestral players into the island there has been a change to the programme to be given by The Guernsey Bach Choir and Orchestra. It is hoped that the previously planned programme will be able to be performed at a later date.

The new programme for 28th November is a selection of beautiful music from the great composers of the Baroque and Classical periods.

The evening begins with 3 Motets for Choir and Orchestra by Mozart, including the famous Ave Verum Corpus.  Symphony No. 26 “Lamentatione” by Haydn and Boyce Symphony No. 4 give our local orchestral players a chance to show off their skills. The Coronation Anthem “Let Thy Hand Be Strengthened” is Handel at his best. Bringing the evening to a close is a selection of choruses from Cantatas for Advent and Christmas by J S Bach. These will give an added festive flavour to an evening packed full of musical delights.

Formed in 2007 The Guernsey Bach Choir has performed a large repertoire of choral music and is now a well-established vocal ensemble with a growing reputation for high standard performances. Tonight they come together with their orchestral friends to perform these great Choral and Orchestral masterpieces.
