St James will host two special concerts to celebrate the life of musician Andy Coleman who died in June. Andy was a popular and formidable player who crossed many genres of music and performed in numerous bands, orchestras and ensembles over four decades. In an effort to celebrate his incredible contribution to music in the island and to represent some of the groups Andy was involved in, the decision has been made to split the concerts into two themes.
This second night will feature Andy’s love of rock, soul and ska and will include three of the bands Andy was most prominently involved in, The Risk, King Rat & The Soul Cats and Sons of the Desert.
The first night will take place on Saturday 1st October and will focus on Andy’s love of jazz and include several ensembles and musicians that Andy performed with, including The Guernsey Jazz Orchestra, The Glenn Miller Sound and The Schubert Octet and more. Get tickets here.
Tickets for both nights are priced at £10 and all the proceeds will go towards helping three local music-based charities: Sound Guernsey, Guernsey Mind and The Guernsey Choral & Orchestral Society.
