Local pianist, Tom Hicks, launches his latest album, “Liszt and Ireland: Piano Sonatas,” for the Divine Art label. This album was recorded at St James during Guernsey’s second lockdown. The second half of the recital features British music selected from the CD including charming miniatures from underrepresented composers, Charles Stanford, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and Rebecca Clarke, alongside Ireland’s optimistically charged Piano Sonata.
The first half will feature: Schumann’s delightful Kinderszenen (Scenes from Childhood), a selection of Chopin Preludes and Brahms’s tragic and intensely beautiful Variations on a Theme of Schumann. Tom will work with local students in the afternoon workshop which is free to all. Observers are most welcome to attend.
