Guernsey Symphony Orchestra presents Salieri Connections
La Scuola di Gelosi – Salieri
Piano Concerto no 19 – Mozart (Tom Hicks soloist)
Symphony no.5 – Schubert
Conductor – Jean Owen
The bitter rivalry between Mozart and Salieri is often documented, but lesser known, perhaps, is that Salieri was a mentor to Schubert and this programme brings together a trio of composers who capture the effervescence and spirit that dominated the classical era in music.
The Guernsey Symphony Orchestra are delighted that outstanding pianist, Tom Hicks, is able to join them for this classical spectacular. This programme has been designed to uplift the spirit as we enjoy the freedom of being together again.

part of the Fanny Davies International Piano Series
A rare opportunity to hear two local pianists perform on two grand pianos at St James in an atmospheric and explosive programme. Sebastian opens the evening with a solo programme featuring Mozart’s light and charming Sonata in E-flat, K. 282, ten Romantic masterpieces in miniature from Scriabin’s Preludes Opus 11, and Liszt’s watery Jeux d’eau à la villa d’Este.
In the second half, Sebastian and Tom will perform the two Rachmaninoff Suites for Two Pianos, Opus 5 and Opus 17. These are picturesque fantasies offering moments of introspection, soaring melodies and virtuosic fireworks.
There will be an afternoon masterclass for local pianists at 16:45. All are welcome to attend this class, and tickets are not required.
